FREMU UK Limited and the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (Tantrade) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance and facilitate the export of Tanzanian products to the United Kingdom.
The signing ceremony which took place at Tantrade offices in Dar es Salaam, marked a significant milestone in the trade relations between the two countries.
Mr. David Mukisa, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fremu UK Limited, and Ms. Latifa M. Khamis, the Director General (DG) of Tantrade, formalized the agreement, which aims to create new opportunities for Tanzanian exporters under the Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS) program.
"We are thrilled to announce this partnership with Tantrade," said Mr. Mukisa during a colorful signing ceremony of the crucial agreement.
And he added: "This MoU will serve as the foundation for Tanzanian exporters to gain unprecedented access to the UK market, promoting economic growth and development in Tanzania. Our goal is to increase the volume and variety of Tanzanian products available in the UK, thereby supporting local industries and creating jobs."
This strategic partnership is also a reflection of the strong bilateral relations between Tanzania and the United Kingdom. The Tanzanian government, through its Embassy in the UK and Tantrade, has been instrumental in fostering this collaboration. Their efforts to promote Tanzanian businesses on the global stage have been pivotal in bringing this MoU to fruition.
"We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Government of Tanzania for their unwavering support," said Mr. Mukisa, added "Their dedication to enhancing trade relations has been crucial in making this partnership possible. We also thank the 70 companies that have registered and shown interest in supplying Fremu UK Limited. This level of engagement is a promising sign of the potential impact this MoU will have."
Speaking for her part, Ms. Khamis expressed that the sealed agreement was of prudent in help expanding Tanzania's export capabilities.
"By working closely with Fremu UK Limited, we can provide our exporters with the resources and support they need to succeed in the competitive UK market."she said.
THE MoU FOCUSES ON SEVERAL KEY OBJECTIVES, INCLUDING
•INCREASING EXPORTS: The primary goal is to significantly boost the volume of Tanzanian exports to the UK.
. MARKET ACCESS: The MoU will facilitate easier access for Tanzanian products to enter the UK market through the DCTS program.
.BUSINESS SUPPORT: Providing Tanzanian exporters with the necessary support, including market information, networking opportunities, and compliance assistance.
The signed MoU represents a significant step forward in realizing Tanzania's trade potential and leveraging international markets to drive economic development.
