THE Dodoma-based Youth Entrepreneurship group, Tusumuke (TYEG) has established a major local chicken farm for the hatching of of improved local chicken breeds.

The vital establishment, seat within ten acres at Mbadala ward of Bihawana in Dodoma Capital City has been installed with start - of - the art incubators facilities for the professional hatching of the different varieties of local chicken breeds.

Explaining over the investment, the group's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Christopher Dioniz informed that the reason behind the project is to restore, and heighten production and availability of local chicken breeds.

"Demand for local chicken keep on skyrocketing in surpass to the relevant production capacity and most of poultry farmers are now seems busy producing hybrid breeds, through artificial insemination (AI) as an alternative means to help quench the increased demand," he unveiled.








According to him, the ongoing trend will automatically resulting into a total extinction of the healtheir- valuable local chicken breeds, hence a need to venture into a specific strategy to help improve the situation.

At the farm, the CEO detailed, they are hatching a mixture of improved local chicken breeds, through crossbreeding, taking into account those from Singida and Tabora, as well kuchis.

"Apart from possessing high in Vitamin B, particularly B3 and B12 for brain function and blood health, these local chickens (improved breed) are easy to raise, they use low breeding costs, and are resistant to diseases,whereby in terms of food, they consume little supplements, " he observed.

He challenged the government to see the imperative of using it relevant training centers, as the Livestock Institute Training Authority (LITA) as well as the ongoing Builiding Better Tomorrow Youth Program (BBT) to impart and sensitizing the involved beneficiary in the relevant sector to play key role in heighten production of the improved locsl chiken breeds.

"Among others, we have inception this farm in order to be used as a learning stick yard for well- wishing entrepreneur youth to aquire necessary skills and technology over the sector, " he said.







Being the country's excelling poultry group, Dioniz expressed that the group was keen, and will continue cooperating with the government to implement different programs aimed at disseminating the poultry skills across the country.

With it headquarters in Dodoma Capital City, the group comprises with professional youth in poultry, and other key sectors in agribusiness.

Apart from generating profits, the core vision for the establishment of the group is to roll out free training to the youth so as enabling them to venture into diverse agribusiness project to help overcoming challenges of unemployment.

The group which has so far claimed various national and international awards and recognitions, engages into several products, including poultry, aquaculture ( fish farming), rabbit rearing, production of livestock feeds, chiken cages production, to mention but a few.
