In the competition, which has involved 33 teams, had the aim of fight against giraffe poaching in the area of 10 villages that make up the Burunge Wildlife Management Area, in Babati district, Manyara region. Appart from the Macklion team winning the championship, Maweni FC was also seen winning the championship for young people under the age of 18 after defeating Mwada 2-0. On the other side, the Mwada Girls' teams, won the Championship for the first time after beating Maweni Queens 4-0. The best players for the senior, youth and girls teams were given trophies, a golden shoe for the best scorer and a golden hand for the best goalkeepers. When Closing the competition, the sports officer of Manyara Region, Pastory Samwel on behalf of the Administrative Secretary of Manyara region, has congratulated the organizers of the competition, the Chem Chem Association, for providing conservation education through sports but also fighting to ensure that football continues to be played. This event took place on October 26, 2023, in Arusha. The project is a collaboration between the Tanzanian Government - Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism through the Tanzania Forestry Services Agency (TFS), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Its primary goal is to build the resilience of forests biodiversity to the threats of climate change in Tanzania’s nature forest reserves. During his opening remarks, Dr. Makero, who served as the guest of honor, emphasized the importance of building biodiversity resilience against the impacts of climate change. Dr. Makero revealed that the six-year project, valued at $5.8 million USD, will be executed in nine natural environment reserves in Tanzania, including Mount Hanang, Nou, and Hasama in Manyara Region, Pindiro, Rondo in Lindi Region, Uzigua and Pugu Kazimzumbwi in Pwani Region, Essimingor in Arusha Region, and Mwambesi in Ruvuma Region. "The meeting's purpose is to foster understanding among experts regarding the project's objectives and execution. This is a vital step toward the successful enhancement of Tanzania's natural forest biodiversity resilience," stated Dr. Makero. To achieve these goals, Dr. Makero emphasized the importance of collaboration with stakeholders to promote eco-tourism and progress in biodiversity conservation and environmental resilience. On behalf of TFS Commissioner for Conservation, Prof. Dos Santos Silayo, Assistant Commissioner for Conservation, Zainabu Bungwa, recognized the successes of previous UNDP-Government projects, particularly in improving natural environment reserves and increasing the number of tourists and revenue in the country. She pledged to efficiently oversee the project's implementation to achieve its intended goals. Additionally, she expressed gratitude to UNDP, the President's Office - Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), and the Office of the Vice President for their roles in facilitating this project. The remark was made by Mr. Jason Yi, Board Director of Huawei Tanzania during the 7th Tanzania Annual ICT Conference in Dar es Salaam, recently who noted that digital transformation is key in unlocking new economic development in the country. Equally, the company has further promised to bring the best technology and reliable mobile network to every corner of the country. He further said that with their contribution and guided by Tanzania’s long-term development strategy the “Development Vision 2025”, the country is experiencing a stage of rapid economic development and has achieved amazing results. At present, Tanzania has become a middle-income economy and has entered a new stage of economic take-off, which means the accelerating development phase from 1000 to 3000 GDP per capita. In this phase, ICT will play a key role in the transition from a resource-based economy to a skill- and technology-based economy, and to transform the country’s production structure. Tanzania's “Third Five-Year Development Plan” also emphasizes the importance of science and technology, innovation and digitalization, to explore development potential through the national digital transformation, so that Tanzania people can benefit from more quality life from the development. “We can see a lot of impressive achievements today. For instance, the national ICT broadband backbone network (NICTBB, 7,900+ km) is providing connectivity to seven neighbouring countries, fulfilling the government’s commitment to become a regional ICT hub, and connecting neighbouring landlocked countries with international submarine cables for global connectivity,” Yi pointed out. He added: “Huawei is honored to be part of this process and contribute to it, and we are proud of the achievements created by our customers and partners. According to Mr Elhag, among the key areas to be trained in the envisaged sessions includes safety at working places, recommended standards and code of ethics in covering and reporting investigative stories. He observed that the journalists in different parts of the globe are subjected to diverse challenges over their security, saying the journalists at Aljazeera have so far encountered a series of such cases. "The Governments across African countries must work to develop and set better laws to support the journalists to execute their daily roles more professionally and thus, propelling to needed democratic and economic growth," he challenged. This resolution marks a significant milestone in the ongoing struggle to address discrimination based on work and descent and to protect and promote the rights and dignity of CDWD across Africa. The Global Forum of Communities Discriminated on Work and Descent (GFOD) is a global forum of communities oppressed due to casteism, traditional and modern forms of slavery. Speaking during the ACHPR meeting in Arusha The Convenor of GFOD, Paul Divakar said GFOD has been intervening at the ACHPR to demand the rights of the marginalised communities and recognize them and demand full realization of their rights. The ACHPR, comprising of representatives from various African nations, NGOs and other stakeholder groups convened in Arusha, Tanzania from 16th-18th of October 2023, to deliberate on this vital issue. Divakar Said after intense discussions, the NGO forum of the Commission unanimously adopted a comprehensive resolution dedicated to combat discrimination against CDWD. He added the NGO forum acknowledged that discrimination based on work and descent is widespread across the Africa and that multiple, aggravated, and intersecting forms of discrimination impact women, children and youth, persons with disabilities, and those of diverse sexual orientation and gender identity, which makes them more vulnerable to the denial of their human rights in par with others. “In order to tackle discrimination based on work and descent, the NGO Forum of the ACPHR we Calls upon States Parties to acknowledge the existence of discrimination based on work and descent as a distinct form of discrimination that deserves the attention of the African community and that affects peoples across Africa” He said Further calls upon States Parties to take all necessary constitutional, legislative, administrative, budgetary, judicial, educational, and social measures to eliminate discrimination based on work and descent in their respective states and respect, protect, promote, restitute, implement and monitor the human rights of those facing this discrimination, including thorough, robust disaggregated data collection in line with data protection and data privacy principles; Divakar Said They Urges States Parties, in collaboration with the National Human Rights Institutions, civil society organisations and human rights defenders belonging to communities discriminated on work and descent, to combat prejudicial beliefs and practices in all their forms, including notions of untouchability, pollution and caste superiority or inferiority, as well as prevent human rights violations taken on the basis of such beliefs; Dubbed ‘Empowering Novel Agri-business –Led Employment (ENABLE), the robust project is the component of the Technologies for African Agricultural Technologies (TAAT) program, the strategic initiative funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) being implemented by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). However, we’re sensitizing them to form special working groups so that they can stand a better chance to acquire useful capital loans from various financial institutions,” he unveiled. And according to Mr Deogratius, the NMB Bank Plc is part and parcel in the rolling out of the project, noting that the role of the state-owned commercial bank was to impart the beneficiary youths with key financial skills and other relevant awareness. As part of envisaged plans in the project implementation in Dodoma region, he unveiled that the vision was to set up a major incubator center, the vital facility which will be grilling the youths in the region with needed technical skills on the project’s selected areas. “We’re also dealing with the students from universities and the other middle colleges and since the inception of the initiative in Dodoma region we’re kept on receiving a good number of the youths, the response is encouraging to a great extent,” he added. Since 2012 IITA has been implementing a youth in agribusiness program (Youth Agripreneur) that runs its activities in different countries within Sub- Saharan Africa, including the IITA’s Agriculture-Tanzania Youth Agriculture (TYA). Tanzania Youth Agripreneurs (TYA) combines professional graduate’s youth from different fields and disadvantaged youth aged between 18-35 years. TYA started its chapter in March 2014 with the prime focus on getting youth together to set-up and run successful agriculture business (agribusiness) and become job creators rather than job seekers. He also spoke over the need to ensure for the accord data on the actual number of the farmers, from wards and districts levels, who are in need of the subsidized fertilizers. Program-for-Results (PforR), is the World Bank’s lending instrument, is one of several innovative approaches to development aid that focus on measurable development outcomes. Proponents argue that PforR will help strengthen institutions, build capacity, and enhance partnership. Among others, the robust program targets to heighten provision of sustainable safe water services and sanitation, as well as environmental care. "The program is running diverse programs to ensure the communities dwelling across the district are in good and most healthier environment, " he said. The DC informed that, in the district, the program is being implemented in at least three major dispensaries of Manyata, Hembahemba and Msunjilile. On his part, Kongwa District Health Officer, Abdulrahman Shehe Othman expressed that the project, P4R, is also working to sensitize over a need for the construction of improved toilets, together with educating the public over the need to adopt hands-washing culture, especially after using toilets. In a tailor –made event to cerebrate the prosperous of the robust project held at the Ministry of Agriculture Training Institute (MATI) –Ilonga in Kilosa, Morogoro Region, USAID/Tanzania Economic Growth Officer Deputy Director, Plato Hieronimus emphasized the importance of strengthening partnership between Tanzania, the United States, and the private sector in generating opportunities for youth development and job creation. “Without the the crucial inputs from the private sector as well as enormous support from the government of Tanzania , this USAID project would not be possible. Targeting Tanzania’s Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT) regions of Iringa, Mbeya, Morogoro and Njombe, along with Zanzibar’s Unguja and Pemba islands, USAIDS’s USD37.9million Kilimo Tija’s primary goal is to sustainably increase economic opportunities in horticulture market system, with a special focus on youth. The HEET project is a five-year venture worth around $425 million (972bn/-) that aims to strengthen the learning environment and labor market alignment of priority programs, while enhancing the delivery of knowledge to produce graduates who meet the demand and standard of the current and future labor market. So far, HEET program has provided funding for over 1000 students for a period of five years to study a special basic programme (pre-entry course) for girls who currently lack qualifications to directly join universities at the undergraduate level.</div>

This will bring benefits to the agricultural sector by eliminating the use of fake seeds,” he said.
