Government Tasks Graduates At Olmotonyi FTI to bring Positive Changes into Country's Forest Sector

THE Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism has challenged the students who graduated at the Olomotonyi Forest Training Institute ( FTI) to use their knowledge to bring about needed changes in the country’s forests preservation sector.
The challenge has been aired by the Director of the Department of Forest and Beekeeping at the parent Ministry, Mr Deusdedith Bwoyo in his remarks during the 83rd Graduation ceremony at THE FTI College, based in Arusha City.
He was speaking on behalf of the Permanent Secretaries (PS) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Hassan Abbas.
It is imperative that you find possibilities to study further and work harder while embracing professionalism and ethics in order to protect, but also improve the country’s Forest sector, " he challenged them.
He said graduates of forestry, landscape architecture, geoinformatics and natural resource management are one of the country's treasures as the nation needs graduates with sufficient knowledge and discipline to preserve and manage the sustainable use of forests in the country.
Together with that, he asked the graduates to ensure they work diligently to help heighten the performance of the forestry sector when they get employment opportunities while asking them to refrain from acts of corruption as corruption undermines conservation.
However, Mr Bwoyo has used the opportunity to congratulate the College Board, Management and all the staff for the great work they are doing to prepare young people who wiĺl stand at a fore front to protect, preserve and develop forests accross the country.
For his part, Mr Imani Nkuwi, who was speaking on behalf of the Director of the Research Training Unit, Dr Edward Kohi, expressed that the parent Ministry will continue working teeth and nail to improve training environment at the facility, especially buildings, revitalizing the curriculum so that it is in line with the current needs and also establishing a special program for developing entrepreneurs (incubation program) to enable them to be self-employed.
On his part, the Principal of Olomotonyi Forestry College (FTI), Dr. Joseph Makero has thanked the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism through its institutions for continuing efforts to support the college for the wider interest of conservation in the country.
In the 83rd graduation, the total of 800 students graduated from different levels including the Initial Diploma in Forestry, Diploma in Forestry, Diploma in Forestry, Diploma in Urban Forestry and Landscape Design, Diploma in Geoinformatics and Natural Resources Management.
