KAWAIDA
Aisha in agony.
By our Reporter
AISHA
a movie produced locally to address the pains of turning a blind eye on
issues which affects women in particular rape, was screened over the
weekend at Century Cinema in Mlimani City, Dar es salaam.
It was a shocking story, coupled with dangerous moves portrayed very accurately by actress and actors on the movie.
The
director Omar Chande brilliantly made his shocking story understood to
the public by presenting close ups and cuts barely used in the country.
Godliver
Gordian, Adarusi Walii, Florah Nicholas and, Juma Madenge managed to
send home the message and in fact the audiences in a full packed house
at Mlimani cinema hall were kept in suspense for a long time before
realizing that all glitters are not diamonds, ex- lover revenge was so
distasteful to a tune of making the full packed room very uncomfortable,
aghhhh!.
Aisha,
which is UZIKWASA’s Third Film tells a story of a young married
pharmacist living in the city who decides to go home to visit her
younger sister who is about to be wedded to the son of a local village
leader.
While
at home, she meets with familiar faces and attempts rekindling the
past. However, when an old flame turns cold and spoke the truth she
cannot engage in extramarital an ex-boyfriend who was also married got
furry and decided to seek revenge.
Aisha being counselled by her brother.
In
his outrage action with a director consequences to the girl, a group of
people rapped the girl in turn and left her dying. She did not die. Her
little sister set out early in the morning searching for her until she
found her in the beach laying there unconscious.
She
cried she didn’t know what happed to her big sis and when the brother
arrived the way he talked to his little sister one can start thinking
what kind of a community was that, it looks like the deed was done and
everyone would rather turn a blind eye, than seeking justice.
Diana
Kamara, one of the audiences at the Movie, said the film made her feel
very angry as it took her like a storm. She said she failed to swallow
the stigma, shame and victim blame with leaders reluctance to take
action against culprits.
Her
girlfriend, Monica added that there should be a campaign to arose
interest on common forms of violence against women .She believed that
Aisha showed a way to break the silence about one of the most
devastating form of violence against women, rape.
The husband listening the horrifying story.
Godliver
Gordian who acted as Aisha in the movie, said she acted with passion
after hearing what happened to her fellow women, to her it was a tragedy
which was supposed to be exposed with compassion and clarity so as to
catch audience who in turn will do something about this devastating
behavior.
Godliver
made me believe we have actress she worked hard and in a way managed to
make people shout no in the theatre while rape scene was being
screened.
The
trauma from rape and injustice it was just like love being betrayed
everywhere and even the husband who declared her love showed no interest
in it, after listening to the tell of rape done to her spouse by a
bunch of thugs. He left her in a hurry not to come back; she wanted it
she got it, what a stigma!
Godliver (Aisha) talking to one of her new fan after Aisha screening.
To
her next of kins it was another betrayal. Her Brother for reasons known
best to him failed to reason with her sister to seek justice and he was
forced to try it by his wife when she told her point blank: If Ramadhan
is the culprit what are you waiting for? Until your daughter and I
being rapped?
Yes, it was like a question directed to the audiences, what are they waiting for.

The
director of the movies Omar Chande said it took him three weeks to do
the film which is dedicated to women who have gone through the same
sufferings as Aisha.
Although
the story is very difficult to tell, the actors and actress who went
almost 21 days of training, managed to produce a movie which unfolds
itself. That is From confidant and cheerful life to the most challenging
life when confidence destroys peace, love and harmony.
Executive
producer of the movie Vera Pieroth spoke about the need of the
community to break the silence and start helping women by ensuring their
safety and dignity.
