Commander of Singida Regionsaid the train engine was on routine shunting.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />“However, the number of deaths could rise as most of the 25 injured passengers are in critical conditions,” she said, noting that the bus was heading to Mwanza from Dar es Salaam.<br /><br />She noted that the driver of the bus was attempting to rush over the railway crossing without first halting and checking train movements as traffic regulations demand.<br /><br />On his side, Peter Serukamba, the Regional Commissioner (RC) for Singida, underscored over the need for the drivers in the country to abide by the set traffic regulations in order to avoid unnecessary accidents of that kind, also praising nurses and doctors at the Manyoni Hospital.<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a We volunteered and contributed financially towards our goals. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">At first we met in the living room of one of the founding members, the late Nelly Kidela. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">Mark you it was after the UN Decade for Women and some of  us took part in some of the events before Nairobi conference or at end of UN decade Conference in Beijing. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">Therefore, the TAMWA we wanted was not inward looking. We focused on what was happening in the community at large. The vision was to have: A Peaceful Tanzanian society which respects human rights from a gender perspective.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">Formed 36 years ago, the Association is still going strong. Currently there are more than 200 active members. Now TAMWA is a household name in playing its role in the fight for human rights through the media. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">For almost 10 years TAMWA lobbying led to enacting by the United Republic of Tanzania Parliament of: "The Sexual Offences Special Provisions Act of 1998" (SOPSA). The objective is to safeguard personal integrity, dignity, liberty and security </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">of women and children.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">TAMWA launched its own newsletter "Sauti ya Siti" that carried investigative stories written by both men and women journalists and researchers. As more people saw the impact: individuals, institutions, organisations and the Government supported TAMWA in its endeavor as it exposed or pointed at  human rights and gender abuse.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">In Zanzibar if a girl became pregnant she was imprisoned and denied going back to school under a Law  known as: "Sheria ya Wanawali ya mwaka 1985". (Wanamwali means virgins). </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">With TAMWA efforts  and  lobbying, Her Excellency, President Dr Samia Suluhu Hasan, who was the then Minister responsible for Gender in Zanzibar, did what was necessary and the Act was repelled. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">Sensitization through the media and lobbying was also done to support women who aspired for elective political posts. After such campaigns in collaboration with other stakeholders,  more women are in  political and leadership roles.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">Lushoto plague was a threat in 1990. Unlike men many women and children died of plague. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">A study during a media campaign  launched by TAMWA showed that women and children slept on the floor hence became the target of  fleas from an infestation of rats in the area at that time. The suffering continued for a long time. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">When TAMWA held a press conference to reveal the outcomes of its study, the media coverage led everyone into action. After a few years of intervention; plague is now history in Lushoto.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">TAMWA was not alone. It was supported by the Government in many ways. All public institutions and stakeholders in the public and private  sector took appropriate steps when there was an issue raised by TAMWA. NGOs both local and foreign, institutions and leaders at different levels lended their support to the Association. In all these campaigns TAMWA used their pens and microphones to carryout investigative journalism on human rights abuse against women and children. What followed next after the the release of the report, was implemented by Governmental and non Governmental organs. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">So far the Association has implemented 145 projects that have touched so many lives in Tanzania.</span></p>

Mpwapwa District, the Project’s Facilitator, Rose Ndunguru expressed that the focus behind the event was to create among the farmers more awareness about organic agriculture technologies and its benefits contributing to yield increase, food security hence livelihood improvement.<br /><br />“Also, the motive behind staging of this organic agriculture education theatre and community sensation is to ensure the persons with different forms of disabilities are included in the farming sector,” she expressed.<br /><br />And Ndunguru added: “That’s why this activity runs under the theme of: “Organic agriculture for better consumer’s health and sustainable Environment with no one left behind”<br /><br />Anna Kayoya, one among the project’s beneficiary farmers from Mpwapwa District said through the initiative she has so far managed to acquire vital practical skills pertaining to organic farming, the development which has assisted her to scale up her farming performance.<br /><br />“Through the project we have been trained on varied methods of organic agriculture which enabled us to increase climate resilience, and hence allow sustainable production at our farms,” she detailed.<br /><br />However, most of the farmers interviewed by this publication expressed to have also benefited a lot from various training on entrepreneurial skills and how to access capital loans.<br /><br />“For instance, through the formation of One Model-Cooperative, we’re now producing various products from organic produce, and marketing them at various markets,” informed Charles instructions in the posters to practice organic agriculture technologies.<br /><br />THE PROJECT’S ACHIEVEMENTS<br /><br />Since two years of the project’s implementation a lot of achievements have so far been achieved, including accomplishments of the following:<br /><br />Livestock improvement through training, supply of goats improved breeds and chicks for poultry keeping in 45 Women groups.<br /><br />Creating awareness about organic agriculture to 1996 stakeholders through participating in the annual agriculture exhibition (Nanenane Kanda ya Kati) where SAT won the second position in NGOs category.<br /><br />Supported 877 women to do Participatory market research for opening market opportunities for their products.<br /><br />232 women farmers were certified organically and can market their crops along East Africa as they have East Africa Organic Market<br /><br />3 saving and lending Apexes were formed to increase access to financial services and accumulated above 70,000,000 TZS which is circulated as loans among members for 9 months.<br /><br />934 women trained on entrepreneurship with products upgrading to increase income generating activities among them.<br /><br />624 font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"> Major was arrested on April 21, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., in Vilima vitatu village ,within the Burunge Wildlife Management Area  in Babati district, Manyara region.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"> This was followed a lengthy investigation of the ChemChem Association Rangers.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">The Wildlife Management Authority (WMA) forces, the police, the Burunge WMA Rangers, and the Rangers   of the Chem Chem Association—which has invested in local tourism—set up a trap that led to his arrest.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana; font-size: large;">He said that the court had sentenced him 23 years in prison Jail in order to put an end to poaching incidences in the Nation.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;
