PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has hailed the government of India for continue strengthening its investment footholds in Tanzania, especially in helping Tanzania to scale up the performance of the key sectors in the country, including the availability and provision of safe water, security, trade and investment as well as the health sector.
Giving a brief remarks this morning (October 9,2023) in her ongoing four –day state visit to India, the Head of State, President Samia expressed that Tanzania will work to further solidifying the the longstanding bilateral ties between the two countries. This is her first visit to India since the assumption of the office of President.
“India stands tall among the potential investors into Tanzania, the development which has so far seen establishment of numerous Indian-based companies in Tanzania, as well as a significant growth in the trade volume between the two countries,” the President expressed.
President Samia appreciated the excellent existing relationship between the two countries, noting that her visit in India would open new avenues for the political and economic development of India and Tanzania.
"I would like to express Tanzania's appreciation for the excellent existing relationship between our two countries which has been there for decades. My expectation from this visit is going to open new avenues for political and economic development and economic cooperation that will lead to strategic partnerships of our two countries," she said.
As part of the visit, President Samia is expected to seal a deal for the opening up of a major health facility in Tanzania for the rolling out of kidney transplant services
In terns of Domestic Gross Product (DGP), India is now only behind US, China, Japan and Germany.
Speaking for his part, Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi remain optimistic that the country holds a key potential of becomming the third biggest economy globally by 2021, expressed that India will continue to invest into various sectors in Tanzania.
President Samia has meet with the Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra at the Hyderabad House in the national capital and the two engaged into potential talks over how best to heighten the two countries ties to higher levels.
President Samia is in India on the invitation of President Drapupadi Murumu and upon her arrivals sh was received by the Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi at the Delhi airport on Sunday.
President Samia was earlier today accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan and participated in the wreath-laying ceremony at Rajghat.
