THE President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Frank –Walter Steinmeier is expected to jet into Tanzania this month for a three day working visit that aims to further cementing and deepening the existing bilateral relationship.
The development has been unveiled by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Tanzania, Mr Thomas Terstegen.
Ambassador Terstegen unveiled the crucial state visit in his remarks during the cerebration to mark Germany’s 33rd anniversary in Dar es Salaam
He expressed that Germany was looking forward to continue to fostering collaborations with Tanzania, especially in the side of cementing the social and economic ties.
The colorful event was attended by the diplomats, government officials, partners as well as the Germany’s in Diaspora.
During the event, Ambassador Terstegen said Germany and Tanzania have a long historical background that dated back before the last century.
“For many Germans, Tanzania is the epitome of Africa and our relationships are currently diverse. We’re looking forward to further strengthening and maintaining our relations,” he observed.
He added that the 33 years ago, on October 3rd 1990, Germany achieved its re-unification and that on that day the former Germany Democratic Republic(GDR) joined the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR cause to exist.
October 3rd is Germany’s National Day, the day of Germany unity, prior to reunification, the communist East Germany regime started to falter.
40 years of communism had ruined the country thoroughly. On November 9th 1989 the infamous Berlin Wall-symbol of the division between East and West-tumbled down. It was a unique historic event.
